Privacy

The short version

• We keep the books you make: text, layout and the pictures your AI assistant uploads.
• We don't receive your photos. Your assistant uses them in your chat to draw the pictures, and only uploads the finished pictures.
• When you order, we keep your email and the shipping address, and share them only with our printer and payment provider.
• No ads, no tracking cookies, no selling data.

What we keep

• Books. The title, the plan and story text your assistant writes, the page layout, and every saved version, so changes can be undone.
• Pictures. The pictures your AI assistant (such as ChatGPT, Claude or Codex) uploads to papergarden. These are the AI-made images for the book. papergarden is not built for photos of real people; please don't upload them.
• Orders. Your email, the shipping name, address and phone number (the courier needs it), the number of copies, the price, and the order status. Payment details go straight to Stripe; we never see your card.
• Technical logs. Our host keeps short-lived request logs (such as time, page and IP address) to keep the service running and safe. They are deleted after a few days.

We don't ask for or keep chat history, precise location, passwords or ID numbers.

Why we keep it

• Books and pictures: to show, edit and print your book.
• Orders: to print and ship your book, send order updates and a receipt, and keep the records the law asks for.
• Logs: to fix problems and stop abuse.

Who else sees it

• Anyone with a book's view link can see that book. The link is long and random, and we don't list books publicly. Only share it with people you trust.
• Your AI assistant (for example OpenAI for ChatGPT) receives what our tools send back while you make the book. Their privacy policy covers your chat.
• Service providers that run papergarden for us: Cloudflare (hosting and storage), PlanetScale (database), Stripe (payment) and Lulu (printing and shipping, which receives the print files and the shipping address).

We don't sell or rent data, and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

• Books and pictures: until you ask us to delete them.
• Orders: as long as tax and accounting law requires (usually 7 years), then deleted.
• Logs: a few days.

Your choices

Email support@papergarden.ai to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete a book, its pictures or your order details (except what the law makes us keep). Send the book's view link so we can find it. We answer within 30 days, usually much sooner.

papergarden is for adults making books for children. Children should not use it on their own.

If we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top.
